MUMBAI: Stock, bond and currency markets are closed on Wednesday for a Hindu festival. Trading resumes on Thursday. On Tuesday, the 30-share BSE index rose 3.8 percent to 15,049.86. The partially convertible rupee closed at 44.38/44.39 per dollar, half a per cent down from Monday's close of 44.17/18. The yield on the 10-year benchmark bond ended at 8.61 per cent, off an intraday trough of 8.52 per cent, its lowest since June 20, according to media data, and a shade below Monday's close of 8.62 per cent.
