Rights of unshot Bollywood film sold for Rs 120 cr


MUMBAI: In a deal that has set a record in Bollywood, the worldwide distribution rights of Vipul Shah's London Dreams have been sold for Rs 120 crore. The deal, which includes satellite, theatrical, video and music rights, is the first to cross the Rs 100 crore mark. Themed around the contemporary Asian underground music scene, the film which stars Salman Khan and Ajay Devgan will go on the floor in September and be shot mainly be in London. Indian Film Company has bought the rights on the basis of "Vipul's track record, his 100 per cent success rate", says trade expert Taran Adarsh. The producer-director's earlier films include the recent hit Singh is Kinng , Aankhein, Waqt — Race Against Time and Namaste London . "It is definitely the best period for the Indian film industry and personally for my films," said Shah from London. "This deal has really brought me immense joy. I am told it is the highest ever in the history of Bollywood, which makes me even more proud." London Dreams is a mega project that was originally to be directed by Raj Kumar Santoshi. Shah came on the scene after Salman Khan insisted that he take charge.
