JAIPUR: His hero, it seems, was Osama bin Laden, but one could never have figured that out. People knew Shahbaz Hussain as a 32-year-old who ran a cyber cafe-cum-computer training centre. Besides, he had a diploma in Mass Communication. It would have been hard to believe that Shahbaz would go home after teaching at his institute and brush up his knowledge on firearms and explosives.
Rajasthan police, who arrested Shahbaz from Lucknow on August 24 in connection with the Jaipur blasts, went back to his residence and found six or seven CDs that not only contain speeches of Bin Laden but also details on explosives and firearms.
There are also clips on the pulling down of the Babri Masjid and the destruction of Bamiyan Buddha statues in Afghanistan by the Taliban.
‘‘We are going through the contents of the CDs, which are highly inflammatory,’’ A K Jain, ADG (crime), said. Jain is also the chief of the Special Investigation Team (SIT), which is probing the May 13 blasts that killed 68 and injured over 200. Jain’s team went to Lucknow three days back and returned to Jaipur late on Monday night.
Shahbaz, who is now in the custody of Rajasthan police, is believed to have masterminded the Jaipur serial blasts along with Sajid Mansoori.
